Morning — Into the Mangroves

• 6:30 – 7:00 AM: Arrive at Godkhali jetty. Our guide meets you, completes forest permit formalities, and briefs you on the day ahead.
• 7:00 AM: Board the motorboat. As the boat glides into the river, the concrete world disappears and the mangrove wilderness begins. Your guide points out sundri trees (the trees that give Sundarbans its name), pneumatophores (breathing roots), and the tidal patterns unique to this delta.
• 8:30 AM: Arrive at Sajnekhali Watchtower and Wildlife Sanctuary. Climb the watchtower for panoramic views. Visit the Mangrove Interpretation Centre, crocodile breeding pond, turtle hatchery, and the Bono Bibi Temple. This is one of the best spots for bird watching — look for kingfishers, Brahminy kites, and white-bellied sea eagles.
• 10:00 AM: Continue by boat through narrow creeks. This is prime wildlife territory — your guide watches for pugmarks on the mudflats, deer movement in the tree line, and crocodiles basking on the banks.

Midday — Tiger Territory

How to Reach Godkhali for the 1 Day Tour

From Kolkata by car: Take the Basanti Highway via Baruipur. Distance is approximately 100 km, taking 3-4 hours. You need to leave Kolkata by 3-4 AM to reach Godkhali by 7 AM.

From Canning by auto: If you take an early morning train from Sealdah to Canning (first train at 5:15 AM), you can reach Godkhali by 7:30 AM via auto-rickshaw. This is the cheapest option.
